Marcellus GTL Opening Natural Gas to Liquids Facility
Washington – Congressman Bill Shuster congratulates Marcellus GTL on its plans to establish a natural gas to liquids facility in Allegheny/Blair Townships. This substantial economic development project will create good paying jobs throughout the community.
“I’d like to congratulate Marcellus GTL and ABCD Corp who worked together to make this project a reality and are bringing innovation and jobs to the region,” said Shuster.
“Natural gas is revitalizing Pennsylvania’s economy and providing exciting new opportunities for innovative companies like Marcellus GTL to invest in our region, provide cleaner energy and good jobs for the area.”
The proposed project involves the construction of a $200-$250 million dollar facility that will have the capacity to deliver 2250 barrels/day of liquid fuel. The facility will be situated on a 65-acre parcel currently owned by 764 Associates. The project is estimated to take 22-24 months to complete and current estimates are that the project will create 200 jobs during the construction phase with 25-30 primary jobs and 60 spin-off jobs.
“For years we have been talking about the positive impact Marcellus Shale gas would have on Pennsylvania and the country. This is one example of that positive impact. This innovative industry and Marcellus Shale development will continue to lead to new jobs, industries, and opportunities for Pennsylvanians,” said Shuster.
