Shuster Congratulates Pinecroft Volunteer Fire Co. on $31,000 Fire Grant

WashingtonCongressman Bill Shuster is pleased to announce that the Pinecroft Volunteer Fire Company has been awarded a Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) in the amount of $31,493. The funds will be used to purchase new hydraulic tools.

“This is great news for the first responders at Pinecroft Volunteer Fire Co. and the people they serve and protect every day,” Shuster said. “This funding will allow them to buy new hydraulic tools to aid them in rescues when minutes could mean lives being saved.”

The grant money will be put towards the purchase of new hydraulic tools, such as spreaders, cutters and rams; necessary equipment to aid in the extraction of victims.

“We would like to thank Congressman Shuster for his support and for the recognition from the Department of Homeland Security for awarding us with this grant. These tools will mean better service and efficiency for our community, which will mean quicker rescues that could save a life,” said Jeffery Farber, grant administrator for Pinecroft Volunteer Fire Company.

The primary goal of the AFG is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations. Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
