Shuster Congratulates the Blair County Airport Authority on $350,000 FAA Grant06/13/13
Washington – Congressman Bill Shuster is pleased to announce that the Blair County Airport Authority has been awarded a Federal Aviation Administration Grant in the amount of $350,000. The funds will be used to purchase and install airfield guidance signs.
“This is great news for the Altoona-Blair County Airport. It’s crucial that our local airports be able to receive funds like these and stay competitive with their bigger counterparts,” said Shuster. “Having a strong local transportation system only benefits our region’s economy and the traveling public.”
The grants funds will be used for the replacement of airfield guidance signs. This is required to enhance aircraft visual guidance and enhance safety of aircraft movements. The current guidance signs have reached the end of their useful life.
“We are very happy in acquiring this grant. It will be very useful for upgrading the facilities at the Altoona-Blair County Airport,” said Lanny Ross, Chairman, Blair County Airport Authority.
