Fulton County Medical Center to be Joined with Route 30

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa.– U.S. Representative Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) announced today that the Fulton County Medical Center (FCMC) will receive grant funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission’s “Access Road Program” to connect its facility to Old U.S. Route 30.

“The FCMC securing this funding is a big deal,” said Rep. Shuster. “This is an 800 thousand dollar investment that will support future growth and expansion, including plans for a center for advanced medicine and ultimate plans to add senior housing and a wellness center at the hospital campus. I’m honored to have been able to play my small role in supporting the project.”

In his letter of support to the Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission, Congressman Shuster stressed that the funding was necessary to connect the hospital to Old Route 30 to provide thousands of residents more convenient access to care and make future investments by the medical center possible.

The FCMC is a non-profit, critical access hospital home to a surgery center and more than 100 practitioners on its medical staff who provide healthcare to central Pennsylvania rural communities. The center’s current facility opened in 2007.

“We are extremely appreciative of the years of support Congressman Shuster has shown the Fulton County Medical Center.” said Jason Hawkins, President and CEO of the FCMC.

“We thank him for his assistance in obtaining this access road grant which will make it possible for us to serve as many patients possible in central Pennsylvania and for these patients to have convenient access to the medical center,” said Hawkins.
