House Passes Budget Paving Way for Tax Reform

WASHINGTON—The House of Representatives passed H. Con. Res. 71, the Fiscal Year 2018 Budget Resolution, with U.S. Representative Bill Shuster’s (R-Hollidaysburg) support today.

The fiscal year 2018 budget cuts $6.5 trillion in total deficit reduction over 10 years, and in fiscal year 2027 the budget would produce a $9 billion surplus.

The resolution also contains reconciliation instructions for Congress to begin the process on tax reform legislation.

“Not only does this budget take critical steps to cut excessive Washington spending, it is a key step in the road to meaningful tax reform,” said Congressman Shuster. “Congress is serious about lowering the tax burden on families and small businesses, and that’s reflected in the budget agreed to in the House today.”
