Shuster Congratulates Geeseytown Community Fire Company on $42,000 Grant

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. – U.S. Representative Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) announced today the Geeseytown Community Fire Company in Hollidaysburg has been awarded a Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG).
“I am thrilled that the Geeseytown Community Fire Company will be able to replace obsolete equipment with this grant,” said Rep. Shuster. “The firefighters provide such a vital service to the community, and it’s important that they are able to obtain modern equipment to continue serving the community the best they can.”
The Geeseytown Community Fire Company was awarded $42,000 through an AFG operations and safety grant, which will be used to procure a new air compressor for breathing apparatuses used by the station and to replace an obsolete gas meter.
“We appreciate Congressman Shuster supporting and assisting the station through the grant process,” said Denny Walls, Chief of the Geeseytown Community Fire Company. “We will be using this new equipment every day, and it’ll make it easier for our firefighters to do their jobs and serve our community.”
Established in 2001, the Assistance to Firefighters Grant is designed to help meet the needs of firefighters, emergency responders, and emergency medical organizations. Funds from the AFG are used to purchase a variety of critical emergency service supplies including new equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and additional resources that local departments need to continue protecting the public.
