Shuster Praises Passage of Late-Term Abortion Ban

WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives passed H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act today. U.S. Representative Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg), a cosponsor of H.R. 36, praised its passage.

“Today the people’s house voted to defend life and to defend the unborn from real pain,” said Congressman Shuster. “I encourage my colleagues in the Senate to pass this bill and send it to President Trump’s desk.”

If signed into law, H.R. 36 would prohibit the abortion of a fetus 20 weeks or older, a stage where medical evidence shows unborn children are capable of experiencing pain. The legislation provides exceptions for operations necessary to save the life of the mother or when the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest.

The White House has signaled that President Trump will sign H.R. 36 into law.
