Shuster Statement on Declassified FISA Memo

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) released the following statement regarding the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence’s declassified memo on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA):

“I examined the FISA memo weeks ago, and after thorough review I saw no national security threat to releasing it to the American public. I believe some in the FBI worked to prohibit this effort in transparency to avoid embarrassment to the agency by the actions a few bad actors who abused surveillance authority. This memo does not tarnish the reputation of the hard working men and women of the FBI and DOJ who are patriots devoted to following the rule of law, only select officials who chose to act improperly.”
